MATADOR FC was officially launched on 31 August 2003, as a
participant in the inaugural season of the Champions League.
The team has evolved from a group of guys enjoying a weekend
kick-about into a fully-fledged football club.
Originally, a group of guys from the company Wall Street
Systems, led by Lindsay Marsh, would enjoy a 5-a-side
kick-about in a local park near Clarke Quay. After becoming
tired of avoiding the numerous health hazards in the park,
such as metal spikes sticking out of the ground, the games
were moved to St Wilfred's futsal pitches on a Sunday night,
where guys from other companies also joined.
Slowly, through a network of contacts, 11-a-side friendly
matches were organised against various social and corporate
teams, and a blue Adidas kit was established.
Upon entering the first season of the ESPZEN Champions
League, MATADOR became the team's official sponsor. A new
bright orange kit was unveiled and MATADOR FC was born.
MATADOR FC now consists of over 50 members including both
local Singaporeans and expats from various companies.
The organisational structure of MATADOR FC is as follows:
Club President: Mr. Mathew Boylan
Club Secretary: Ms. Arlene B. Hundangan
Club Treasurer: Ms. Eleanor De Guzman
Club Administrator: Ms. Kimberly Chen
Team Captain: Mr. Ravi Mirch
Team Vice-Captains: Mr. Vincent Rosa & Mr. Giles Jacobson
